Faculty and staff at New Mexico State University were honored November 12, 2015 for improving the quality of their online courses during the Instructional Innovation and Quality (IIQ) Recognition and Awards Celebration.
Leading the Way Award
The Leading the Way award recognizes an NMSU main campus faculty, staff, or administrator who “walks the talk” in terms of professional growth, quality focus, mentorship, and leadership.
Patricia MacGregor-Mendoza, College of Arts and Sciences professor, received IIQ’s “Leading the Way Award” as recognition for her advocacy, collaboration, and online service.

Faculty and staff were recognized for completing professional development opportunities from IIQ including the One Year Plus Fellowship (1Yr+), New2Online (N2O) Program, or for participation in Quality Matters activities.

The Quality Matters (QM) Program is a leader in quality assurance for online education. Its focus is on collegial and continuous improvement in online education and student learning.
Quality Matters Peer Reviewers have taken over 20 hours of instruction to develop their skills to provide collegial and constructive recommendations to their peers about their online courses.

National Course Recognition
To get a course recognized nationally, a formal peer review team consisting of three QM certified peer reviewers, one of whom is a subject matter expert and one whom is external from NMSU, completes a review of the online course using the Quality Matters rubric. When a course successfully meets the Quality Matters standards, the course receives national QM recognition.
